Alex,

Please e-mail me immediately. By Oct 31st at the very latest. I've become a bit concerned about the OntarioGenWeb pages you maintain, mostly because you're not online that often. We need a host who is accessible to visitors.

I realize you have experienced some difficulties in the past year that have led to you not being able to be online as much as you like, but I'm sure you understand that I have to keep OntarioGenWeb visitors interests at heart. That and I have not heard from you personally in several months so I'm not sure where you stand on the current GenWeb issues.

Speaking of which -- could you please remove some items from your GenWeb sites?? I'm mostly concerned with the items that belong on a personal site (your list of items stolen, religious notations, etc). These would fit better on a personal site as a GenWeb site should be dedicated to genealogy in the counties you have adopted.

Awaiting your reply...

Hi Alex -

Glad to hear that you are getting your life back together and that most of your troubles are behind you.

I did want to let you know that I agree with Sherri's message to you. Although you have been working against many odds, if you are going to continue to host the CanadaGenWeb sites that you presently host, you will need to do the following:

1. Be regularly accessible via email
2. Remove the personal information and the religious phrases from your CanadaGenWeb pages

Alex, I understand that you have your personal religious beliefs - we all do. However, we all (and by that I mean not just you) need to keep that separate from our responsibilities with CanadaGenWeb. It is also not appropriate to include personal stories, as tragic as they may be, on your CanadaGenWeb pages. Let me emphasize that it is not because we within CanadaGenWeb are not concerned about you personally. On the contrary, it is because we don't feel that this should be a part of ANY CanadaGenWeb site.

I also agree with Sherri that you should establish a personal genealogy page, which you may freely link to from your CanadaGenWeb site, if you wish to include your personal interests and stories. You can obtain free sites for this purpose from many Web hosts, such as Geocities www.geocities.com and Xoom www.xoom.com .

Finally, you are to be commended for the sites you host with CanadaGenWeb. You have done a nice job. If you can meet the 2 requests I listed above by the end of this month, we would be happy to have you remain as a host.

Best regards,

Gail

I did not respond to the above 2 messages.

This Threat to terminate me as host [Oct. 1998] for Glengarry, Stormont, Prescott, Soulanges/Vaudreuil County by Sherri & Gail was not acted upon by either of them and I was left me hanging.

I think the content of my many web pages on a continuous basis have shown in part why this decision was not followed through.
